Toddler Song Card - Morning has Come
An illustrated song card with the lyrics for the song
Morning has Come
NB - there are so many versions of this song that greets the day and we combined the lyrics that most suited us. As a child feeling “not good” was a message I picked up from my environment so I struggled for a while with the line that says “we’re good children all”.
As always when something is disturbing me I go deep to examine beliefs and the result of my reflecting led to a reclamation of the word “good” - it is certainly my wish that all children will grow up knowing and feeling without question that they are good (and feeling it internally is even more important than be told it externally) and that no one can make them question the extent of their goodness.
This song is beautiful as a transition song and we used it to call children to gather before our community meal when we worked in long day childcare. (Remember gathering for toddlers should never be enforced - some will just listen from where they are in the environment and be happier than being forced to sit at a gathering when their spirit is calling them to move).
